I gained about 20 kgs (44 lbs) after moved to US from Korea.
I was super skinny before!!! Back in the time, I was only weighing 48 kgs (106 lbs) so you can guess how skinny I was few years ago.

When I visited my family in Korea this March, my mom and brothers were making fun of me because I got super fat. They all remember how skinny I was so they got shocked....
I was also shocked by their reactions too, and it made me decide to start 'Korean Medicine Diet' eventually.

Few of my friends recommended to me that method already. It was very expensive to buy 3-months-package (3 packs a day - 6 boxes!!) and had hard time to bring them over to US. I had to buy another carrier bag to just carry those.

However, the result has been.....awesome!!!!!! The price for 3 months package was little more than $1,000 but it's totally worthy.

The package is including 2 different medicines.
- 3 days detoxing package (you can only eat vegetables during these 3 days)
- 3 months regular package (you can eat food normally, but no caffeine / no alcohol)

So far, I've lost 6.7 kgs (15 lbs) total. I started it at the end of March so it's been about 2 and a half months.
The pictures above --> Left: End of March. Just before starting the medicine / Right: This morning. May 18th

I've experienced -

1. Loss of appetite
2. Thirst
3. Metabolism boost

Basically, it makes your body burn fat faster and eat less food.
I mean.... you can't get fat with these...you know lol

I feel like cheating with this magic potion but it works so well.... :D

Of course you have to put effort with the medicine too -
- No skipping. Always take 3 packs a day
- If you really want to drink coffee or alcohol, skip one pack and drink
- Watch your food. Less greasy food / less fried food / less instant food / less carbs. Your appetite will drop anyway but you have to be careful too
- Exercise if you can. You don't have to exercise too much because it will burn your fat anyway. But it will be better for you to exercise to maintain your body after the medicine is done.

If anyone is interested, I can give you more information!!! I'm not doing any promotion for them. It's just my pure experiences ;)

Ketogenic diet.

It's a diet formed with high fat, high protein and low carbs. The goal is to transition our body from using carbs as a source of energy to using fats for main energy.
You are to fill your daily nutrition with High fat, High protein, but no more than 20g of net carbs. This means no buns on your burger, no ketchup, pickles, fries.
I can't get into details of anatomy (because science), but you can read more about it in the link below.

https://www.tasteaholics.com/the-complete-keto-diet-guide-for-beginners/

There are motives for every and any actions, right?
My motivation was quite simple: weight gain, and massive amount of sugar I have been consuming for the past 18 years.
All of my family members love rice, and all sorts of sweets. I was aware that my sugar intake was quite more than others in general, but did not realize how serious it was. Age of 26, perfectly healthy (at least I thought). I traveled to Korea, Singapore and Taiwan. Couple countries which preserve best street foods in Asia.
Little did I know, I was able to compare the food intake with my travel mate. Splurging on street was definitely AMAZING, but the consequences were not sweet. Compared to my travel mate who ate given portion for individual, and little bites of sweet and savory street food (probably I would assume no more than 60~100g of sugar just from desserts alone), my daily sugar intake besides carbs from rice/noodles seemed to be easily over 500-600g.
How did I know? I love remembering amazing food. That's how I know.
So realizing that I was in somewhat a trouble with my body, I decided to take up the ketogenic diet challenge.

Main goal was simple.
1. Lose weight
2. Cut carbs

Now, cutting carbs for Korean is sort of impossible. Every Korean person around me smirked at my stupidity for choosing ketogenic diet out of all the other things I could have tried.
However, the best thing about keto, is that you can eat high fat grass-fed source.
This means unlimited ghee, butter, steak, burger patties, avocado, coconot oil, cheese, etc.

I'm 5ft 9 inch tall, and weighed about 149lbs before going to the Asia trip.
When I came back after three weeks, I was 155lbs (WALLAHHHHHHH)
3 weeks into ketogenic, I went down to 147lbs, and even went down to 145 lbs a week after, but stopped losing from there.
This was mainly because Saturday was my cheat day, and my tummy had unhealthy carb fiestas.
cookies instead of rice, boba milk tea instead of grains, etc.
I also only started working out one 10 days ago, so I may have gained a bit of muscle.
Currently I'm at 147 lbs, but not focusing on the numbers on scales.

Attached is my almost-daily homemade brunch!
consists of 1-2 burger patties Safeway brand, swiss or pepperjack cheese, and egg!
"Now that's the easy-cheesy-burger girl"
If you prefer protein bars, I would say Quest bars would be the best go-to because it has 4-6g of net carbs. Definitely keto friendly!

The hardest part of Keto diet, is going out to eat. Technically you can ask the waitstaff to make any plate keto friendly, but I personally dislike being the person who orders an entree with no this, no that, and no million other things. However, it does force myself to make more healthier menu choices. (salads!)
It's definitely a huge commitment to stop your hands from reaching out for sugar, so if you want to begin keto, give a serious thought to see if this is what you want to proceed with :]

So I tend to fall off the wagon often (as most people do- i'm sure) and it really bugs me. I think from now on I will ease into a better diet and work outs as opposed to just jumping in at full force. I think i tend to stay on track when i visualize my goals every morning.

On March 12, 2016, I went snowboarding for the first time at Snow Summit, Big Bear. Starting off was a challenge since #1: I never snowboarded in my life and #2: I don't have a good sense of balance on a board. My biggest challenge at the beginning was learning how to get up with the board every time I fell. But luckily, my boyfriend had patience with me and I eventually got it. After a few trials, I got the "heeling" part down. I think that's pretty good for a first timer. But going down the hill just "heeling" gets pretty tiring. It's definitely a leg and thigh workout but THANK GOD I work out my legs and thighs at the gym. My boyfriend tried teaching me to "toe" on the board but I couldn't get that down since the snowboarding boots that I borrowed were a tad bit big. So I decided to just practice on my "heeling" the rest of the time...UNTIL! Everything was fine, I was heeling down the hill, but I guess I got pretty tired that instead of my stopping, I kind of just gave out and face planted HARD. I knew that was my last run for the day (I mean season) since I could barely breathe and it was very difficult to get up. A little over a week later and my ribs are still bruised. But, I loved learning how to snowboard so much that I can't wait for next year!
